What does a youth volunteer do?
A volunteer working in this area would prepare programs and crafts. This job also includes organizing and straightening the AV room, shelf reading, preparing bulletin boards, preparing mailings, and preparing materials for school visits. The volunteer may be assigned to use an Ellison Lettering Machine. A youth services volunteer will assist library staff during programs. There are also other duties that may be assigned in the youth area.

Youth volunteers work in the Youth Department of the various facilities.
When would a youth volunteer work?
Days and times volunteered are dependent on the library's needs and the availability of the volunteer, but are usually scheduled as follows:
Youth volunteers at the Main Library are scheduled to work any day the library is open for a 3 hour period.
Youth volunteers at the Foothills Library are scheduled to work any day the library is open for a 3 hour period.
Youth volunteers at the Velma Teague Library are scheduled to work during open hours, Monday-Friday, for a 3 hour period. Please call for Saturday volunteer opportunities.
