The center provides educational, recreational, fitness and social activities through classes, special events and ongoing center activities. Select areas and programs are free to everyone. Recreation passes may be purchased for additional opportunities. No joining fees or contracts! Daily, monthly, 15-punch and annual recreation passes are available; Click here for rates.

The Privileges of Being a Recreation Center Pass Holder
A Recreation Pass allows the use of the fitness area with fitness/exercise equipment, the indoor jogging/walking track; the open gymnasium hours, basic aerobics, the indoor racquetball courts, rock climbing wall and scheduled lap swimming all for one low price. A variety of passes are available including monthly, annual and punch passes with special pricing for seniors, families and students. For pass holder rates and age requirements, click here. Please note that recreational swim is separate from a recreation pass and includes an additional fee. Anyone entering the aquatics area is considered part of the regulated capacity and must pay the Aquatics Pass admission.

Silver Sneakers Program
Individuals enrolled in the Silver Sneakers program through their participating health plans are able to select the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center as their preferred recreation center. These programs entitle them to receive a Recreation Pass (at no cost to the participant as covered by their health carrier) that remains activated until their health plan discontinues the program or the individual is no longer covered by the health plan. Ask us for more information!

The fitness center includes a variety of cardiovascular and strength training equipment and a warm up area. Click here for the Exercise Studio schedule. Available to all pass holders 15 years and older. A fitness attendant is on duty during all hours and will assist Pass Holders with questions and an orientation session. Teens ages 13-14 may participate when accompanied by a Recreation Pass holding parent or legal guardian AFTER successful completion of a required orientation session. The pass holding parent or legal guardian must be present in the fitness center during all 13-14 year old use. The fitness center is open during all regular facility hours. Personal training and nutrition counseling is available for an additional fee.

The gymnasium is a regulation-size court with six individual basketball hoops allowing multiple games simultaneously. The gym also converts into two regulation volleyball courts or four regulation badminton courts. Open play specified as “recreational” may not include organized practices/drills. Check the gym schedule for your favorite open recreation time. For safety, all gym users must wear closed-toe/heel tennis shoes. Wheeled tennis shoes may not be substituted. To help you stay hydrated, water is the only beverage that may be brought into the gymnasium. Other beverages and food items such as sunflower seeds, snacks, gum, etc. may be consumed in the Activity Room or café area. Individuals ages 9 and older may use the gym without additional supervision.

Racquetball Courts  (3 available)
Use of the racquetball courts is included with a Recreation Pass. An individual, duo, trio or group may make one reservation per day. Reservations may be made seven days in advance by monthly and annual pass holders. Day Pass holders may ask for court availability as a walk-in participant only and cannot make advance reservations. The racquetball courts may be reserved by anyone 15 years or older. Racquetball leagues are offered throughout the year. Ask at the Front Desk for the next available league. Goggles are required for anyone under 18 years and available at the Fitness Desk. Individuals ages 13-14 may play racquetball upon successful completion of an orientation session. A Recreation Pass holding adult must accompany youth 12 and younger during all court use. For reservations, call 623-930-4624.

walk/jog track photoWalking and Jogging Track
Walk or jog in climate-controlled comfort as part of the Recreation Pass. Pass Holders ages 13 or older may use this area. Youth 12 years or younger must be accompanied by a responsible individual at least 16 years. Walkers with strollers may use the outside lane. Sprinting, speed walking or walking side-by-side with strollers is not allowed. Toddlers must remain in the stroller at all times. Athletic shoes with closed toes and heels, shirts and shorts or pants are required during use. The daily track direction is designated by a sign near the entrance. Lap counters may be checked out at the Fitness Desk for tracking laps. No shoes with wheels allowed on the track.

Rock Climbing Wall
Included for Recreation Pass holders. Orientations are provided for all climbers during open hours. Climbers may be subject to minimum or maximum weight restrictions. Waivers are mandatory for all climbers. Please call 623-930-4600 for hours.

Turtle Club
The Turtle Club is a child-care program for children ages 2-9. Adults participating in programs/activities at the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center may use this service for an additional fee. Participants with children in the Turtle Club must remain on site at all times. Staff is not responsible for giving out bottles or changingdiapers. Food is not allowed in the Turtle Club. A 10-hour or 20-hour Turtle Club Pass may be purchased. Turtle Club Passes are non-refundable. There is a 10-minute ‘grace’ period for picking up your child(ren) before an additional ½ hour charge is assessed. Call for hours of operation. Turtle Club rates:

The Activity Room is open to the public free of charge. The Activity Room includes billiards, ping pong, arcade games, big screen TV, game tables and air hockey. Youth 8 years old and younger must be accompanied by a responsible individual 16 years of age or older. The responsible individual must stay in the Activity Room during all use. Youth 9 years or older, may use the Activity Room without additional supervision.

The outdoor Aquatics Center consists of a heated, competitive lap pool, lazy river, diving well, two slides, leisure pool with zero depth entry, aquatic playground and concessions that operates during the summer. Year-round lap swimming and aquatics fitness classes are available. The Aquatics Center offers recreational swimming, swim lessons and special events. An Aquatics Pass (seasonal) is required for entrance and recreation swimming and is not included as part of the Foothills Recreation Pass. Passes are only valid for the summer they are purchased. The pool deck is a “Gum Free Zone.” A handout of all pool rules is available at the Front Desk. All individuals on the pool deck must have an aquatic admission pass. Each individual is counted as part of the Maricopa County regulated “maximum capacity” whether swimming or watching. Click here for the aquatics information and lap swimming.

Activities/Events
Program offerings requiring a fee may include self-enrichment classes, workshops, special
events, sport leagues, personal training, and the Turtle Club. Some recreational offerings and special events are free of charge. The Activity Room and Lobby are also free of charge but may not be used for private parties, events, or organized gatherings. Rental spaces are available for parties, events, or organized gatherings.
