Kathy Cano-Murillo appears at the Velma Teague LibraryLocal author Kathy Cano-Murillo, a.k.a nationally syndicated Arizona Republic columnist “The Crafty Chica,” will discuss and sign her first novel, Waking Up in the Land of Glitter, during this Authors @ the Teague event.  

In this sparkling debut set in the Phoenix family restaurant La Pachanga, three very different Latinas, each motivated by her own dreams and failures, team up for the Craft Olympics. Thanks to the glue gun of friendship and the glitter of creativity, Star, Ofie, and Chloe find the power to recraft their lives.  "Full of humor, love, friendship and some pretty cool art projects, . . . this novel was just a delightful glittery, shiny, light-hearted treat." (“Las Vegas Review-Journal”)

Cano-Murillo also plans to offer a sneak peek at her next book, set in Glendale, plus tips and tricks for aspiring novelists.  Founder of the popular CraftyChica.com, she is the author of seven craft books and the owner of five Chihuahas.  She describes herself as a “Mommy, wifey, artist, author, left-handed middle-child Sagittarian. Former newspaper reporter. Novelist. Craft product designer,” with a personal motto of "Crafts, drama and glitter".

J A Jance appears at the Foothills Branch LibraryPopular mystery author J.A. Jance returns to Glendale to talk about her newest book, Queen of the Night. She will appear at Foothills Branch Libraryat 3 PM.

The creator of many series characters, including Seattle homicide detective J.P. Beaumont and Cochise County Sheriff Joanna Brady, Jance ventures into the thriller realm as well as mystery. Queen of the Night, a multi-layered suspenseful story about the Walker family, is set in the southern Arizona desert. She weaves the stories and traditions of the Tohono O’odham people into a novel about murder. In fact, two slayings that took place decades apart can connect and devastate three separate families.

Jance, a New York Times bestselling author, resides part-year in Arizona. Her first novel, Until Proven Guilty was published in 1985. Queen of the Night is her 42nd book.

Copies of Jance’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
