CAPRA provides quality assurance and quality improvement of accredited park and recreation agencies throughout the United States. CAPRA is the only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies, and is a valuable measure of an agency’s overall quality of operation, management, and service to the community.

ADAPTIVE PROGRAMS

The City of Glendale Parks & Recreation Adaptive Recreation program offers specially designed activities for individuals with physical, mental, emotional or social disabilities. Activities include bowling, swimming, dances, field trips & more. The general minimum age for participating is 8 years old. The City of Glendale also supports Special Olympics Softball & Challenger Little League with the City of Peoria.

*With the goal of enhancing programs for citizens with disabilities, the City of Glendale partners with the City of Peoria in the Glendale/Peoria Special Recreation Alliance program, which offers cooperative programs between the two cities.

Summer Bowling Bonanza
Saturdays, June 23 – August 11 • 9–11 a.m.
Glenfair Lanes Bowling Alley, 6110 N. 59th Ave.

(Ages 8+)  Participants make new friends, improve their game and enjoy the support of others. Parents, guardians and care givers volunteer and assist those with special needs to make this a rewarding experience. Bowling ramps are available to registered bowlers.  Instruction is not provided.  $18 for entire session (Non-resident $25).  The cost includes the use of a bowling ball and shoes.   Click here to register. Bingo Extravaganza Night* 
Friday, June 15 • 7–9 p.m.
Glendale Adult Center, 5970 W. Brown St.

(Ages 10+)  Get the family together (siblings and parents are welcome) and head to the Glendale Adult Center, for an evening of bingo, prizes and fun!  • $5 per person. Peoria High School pool, 11200 N. 83rd Ave.

(Ages 16 +)  Youth will put on their favorite Hawaiian outfit and enjoy fun games in the pool, prizes and more! Snacks will be provided. Pre-register by calling 623-773-7346.  $5 per person.

Theatre Kidz
Thursdays, August 23- November 15 ? 5:30 – 7 p.m.
Glendale Adult Center, 5970 W. Brown St.

(Ages 8-22) Students learn the joy of singing, acting and dancing, while also improving their confidence level and making new friends.  The final class ends with a live performance on stage at the Adult Center.  Click here to register.
